November 4, 1999KANAWHA - Bena Ruth Trenary, 93, of Kanawha, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at the Kanawha Community Home, in Kanawha. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. today at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor G. David Daley officiating. Interment will be in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Visitation was held Wednesday at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, in Kanawha. There will be visitation one hour prior to services today at the church.
Bena, the daughter of Daniel and Nancy (Christians) Abbas, was born Oct. 29, 1906 on the family farm near Kanawha. She attended grade school in Kanawha and graduated from Kanawha High School with the class of 1924. Bena was united in marriage with Clarence Trenary on Feb. 16, 1927 at her parent's farm home. The couple made their home on a farm near Kanawha, where they farmed until retirement in 1971, at which time they moved into Kanawha. Clarence passed away on Jan. 6, 1996 and Bena continued to live in their home, until entering the Kanawha Community Home in 1998. Bena loved her flowers and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to have them visit her. She was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church and active in the Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie Ter Hark and her husband, Allan, of Spirit Lake; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Trenary, of Kanawha; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Tena Peters; and a brother, Clarence Abbas and his wife, Vera, of Kanawha. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; son, Richard "Jim" on Aug. 15, 1994; two sisters, Faye Swyter and Grace Veldhouse; and four brothers, Anno, Fred, Chris and George.
