KANAWHA – Funeral services for H. H. Riekens, Kanawha business man, were held at the Wright Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday, with Rev. Peter Eekhoff of Ackley officiating. Interment was made in the Wright Christian Reformed cemetery.
Harm H. Riekens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Riekens, was born on Jan. 3, 1887, five miles southwest of Ackley. He was baptized at the First Wellsburg church, as an infant. In 1892 he moved with his parents to Wright county, where he assisted his parents in farming until 1930, when he moved to Kanawha with his mother, and entered business in an implement shop. He was engaged in business until the time of his death, March 16, 1951.
He was one of a family of 10 children. Two infant brothers, one sister, Fanny and his parents preceded him in death. Surviving are three brothers, George and John of Kanawha, and Ed of Belmond; three sisters: Louise, Mrs. Henry Eekhoff of Kanawha, Abbie, Mrs. Al Christians of Independence, and Dena, Mrs. Hammond Ruter of Kanawha.
