Delvern Earl Korth was born Aug. 7, 1932, at Iowa Falls to Harriet Campbell Korth and Earl Korth. He entered into Glory on July 11, 2008, at the Hospice Room, Franklin General Hospital, Hampton. He spent his early years on the farm near Dows and attended school at Morgan No. 6. He graduated from Dows Community High School in the class of 1950. After graduating from high school he engaged in farming with his uncles. He was a 4-H leader for several years.

On Aug. 3, 1958, he married Marillyn Etherington at the Vincent Methodist Church and to this union two children were born. They spent their entire married life on the farm near Dows. He was a good volunteer, serving on several boards including the Franklin County Fair Board (10 years), the Dows Farmers Elevator board (24 years) and a time on the Franklin County Farm Bureau board. In later years, he and Marillyn became Hospice volunteers, a job he loved and was very good at. He loved his family and often worked late hours so he could attend all of their sports activities. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and he was very popular with them on their trips to town in the big truck. He was a member of the Morgan United Methodist Church and served in many of the church offices. In the past year, he was baptized and became a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. His faith was very important to him and it stood him well in his many surgeries. Farming was his life, and after retiring he became an avid user of the computer. Many relatives and friends received many emails from him which they all enjoyed.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Marillyn; two children, Marilianne (Till) Askland of Des Moines, and Jonathan Korth and wife, Elzabeth, Dows; his honorary daughter Chardel Leonard of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Jade (Adam) Olmstead, Alex Korth, Cassandra Jensen, Clayton Askland, Haylee Korth, Michael Jensen; great-grandson, Justin Olmstead; his sister Charlotte Meyer of Wellsburg; and a host of nieces and nephews. Many young friends call him Grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta Paulsen and nephew, Delbert Paulsen. His presence will be missed by many. Dugger Funeral Home.
