CLEAR LAKE - Kenneth Ollie Bige, 80, died Tuesday (July 1, 2008) at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. A visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. Memorials may be directed to the Kenneth Bige Memorial Fund.

Kenneth Ollie Bige was born April 14, 1928, in Woolstock, the son of Martin and Ida (Ratcliff) Bige. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1945. He farmed in the Woolstock and Webster City area. In 1959 he was united in marriage to Lavonne Wingaard. They moved to Forest City in 1969, where he continued to farm. He later owned a couple semi trucks and was a hog buyer for John Morrell until his retirement. After his retirement he drove semi part-time. They moved to Clear Lake in 1982. Ken enjoyed hunting, horses, Western movies, baseball, football and loved spending time with grandchildren and his granddog, Nikki Westerberg.

He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Bige, Clear Lake; children, Dave (Deb) Ulstad of Mason City, Jeff Ulstad of Iowa City, Teresa (Jeff) Van Slyke of Forest City, Doug Bige of Unionville, Mo., and Luanne (Glenn) Westerberg of Kingfisher, Okla.; grandchildren, Raechel (Steve) Bird of Clear Lake, Brooke and Weston Bige of Unionville, Mo., Staci Boerjan of Mason City, Jacob and Allison Ulstad of Mason City, Eli Wood of Forest City and Vanessa Van Slyke of Forest City; great-grandchildren, Alexis Ulstad of Clear Lake, Zachary Kettwig of Clear Lake, Sonjai and Andrew Hall, Mykelah Boerjan of Mason City; and sister, Delores Bolden of Webster City. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Prochaska. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel
