Gail Margaret Hanson, 100

Gail Margaret Hanson, age 100, of Hudson, Wisconsin passed away Friday, June 13, 2008, at Christian Community Home of Hudson. She was born February 9, 1908, in Olaf, Iowa, to George and Lillian (Baxter) Thompson. Gail graduated in March 15, 1929, from Iowa State Teachers College in Iowa Falls. A short time later she married Verdell Hanson in Wright County, Iowa on September 14, 1930. Gail thoroughly enjoyed gardening and cooking. Long walks on the beach shelling in Florida was a favorite past time, along with shopping, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gail is survived by her son, Richard “Dick” (Diane) Hanson of Woodbury, Minn.; grandchildren: Mary Hanson and her children, Paige, Blake and Isaac, all of Woodbury and Richard “DJ” (life partner, Derek) Nicoletto-Hanson and their son, Asher, of New York City; special nephew, Dudley (Concha) Thompson; and numerous other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdell; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Maxine) Thompson; and dear friend, Mary Pennewell.

A Memorial Service will be held 12 noon on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson with Rev. Dr. Laurence Goebel officiating. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery, in Belmond, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred in Gail’s name to the Christian Community Home Foundation.
Services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin.
