GOLDFIELD — Tjeran S. Thompson, 93, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the long-term care facility at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt, Iowa. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Lake Lutheran Church, rural Goldfield, Iowa, with Pastor Truman Larson officiating. Interment will be in Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Goldfield. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Lake Lutheran Church. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Tjeran S. Thompson was born on March 16, 1915, on the family farm, rural Goldfield, Iowa., to Olie B. and Sarah Tjeranson Thompson. He graduated from the Renwick Independent School in Renwick, Iowa in 1933. After his schooling, Tjeran farmed the family farm for most of his life. He was also a licensed electrician and he and his brother, Sanford did a lot of work for the Rural Electric Association in Humboldt County. They also did the wiring on the Renwick Independent School building. He was a lifelong member of the Lake Lutheran Church, rural Goldfield. Tjeran loved to tinker with anything that was electrical. He would take electrical tools that were worn out and make something usable from the surplus parts. He also enjoyed reading.

Tjeran entered the Long-Term Care Facility at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, Iowa on January 18, 2008. He died there on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the age of 93. Tjeran is survived by his cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Tolleve Sanford Thompson in 1907, Tjeran Thompson in 1913, Sanford Tolleve Thompson in 1987, Arthur Thompson in 1992; and his sister-in-law, Bessie Thompson.
