George DuKate, Vice President Of Realty Firm

George A. DuKate, 62, the vice president in charge of commercial property for the H. L. Rust Co., a real estate firm in the Washington area, died Tuesday at his home in Annandale, Virginia after a heart attack.

Mr. DuKate was born in Harlan, Iowa, and grew up in Clarion, Iowa. He attended the old Grand Island (Neb.) Business College and moved to the Washington area in 1940. During the next two years, he worked first for the old Social Security Board and then for the Army War College. He enlisted in the Navy and saw World War II service in the Pacific. After the war, Mr. DuKate returned to Washington and began his career in real estate. He also attended the Benjamin Franklin University. In the late 1940s, he moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where he was assistant business manager of The St. Petersburg Times newspaper and later worked for a construction company. In 1954, he returned to the Washington area and began his career with the Rust company. He remained with it until his death. Mr. DuKate was a certified property manager of the Institute of Real Estate Management and a license real estate broker in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. He was a member of several professional and business groups, including the Metropolitan Washington Board of Trade, the Washington Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette, of Annandale; two daughters, Sheron Peterson of Spokane, Wash., and Wanda Markle of Annandale; one brother, L. E. DuKate of Clarion, and two grandchildren.
