Richard L. Nutt, 84, of Huntsville, Alabama died Monday. He was born July 7, 1921 in Minneapolis. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with an engineering degree and pursued graduate studies there in chemical engineering. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. After working as an engineer with General Mills in Belmond, Iowa, and a brief stint at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. he accepted a position in 1960 with the Army Missile Command in Huntsville, where his focus shifted to mathematics and statistics applied to quality control. He retired from that position in 1993.

He is preceded in death by his son, Keith Alan Nutt, his brother, Douglas Nutt, and his sister, Dorothy Amren. He is survived by his wife Beverly Madsen Nutt of Huntsville, and son, Craig L. Nutt of Kingston Springs, Tenn.

Private family meditations were observed prior to the cremation. In lieu of flowers his family requests that a donation be made in his memory to your favorite charity.
