Mr. Glenn "Gabby" Baker, 66, of 124 Buckboard Drive, Martinez, died Monday, April 24, 1995. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Belair Road. Burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Baker, a native of Eagle Grove, Iowa, had retired from the Army with 20 years of service and had retired from the civil service at Fort Gordon with 10 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had lived in Martinez for 31 years and was a past square dance caller for the Wrens Wranglers, the Augusta Twirlers/Master City Squares, Georgia Square Dance Caravan and the Peach State Ramblers. He was a past president and treasurer of the Georgia Callers Association and the C.S.R.A. Callers Association and was a member and past treasurer of the C.S.R.A. Repeater Association Ham Radio Group.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys B. Baker; a son, Robert Eugene Baker, Martinez; a daughter, Karen Baker Chalker, North Augusta; a brother, Earl C. Baker, Newton, Miss.; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Charles Mashburn, Don Ardrey, Paul Bennett, Robert Waldera, William Prather, William Prather and Jerald Willingham.
Memorials may be made to the W.G. Watson Endowment Fund, c/o University Hospital Health Care Foundation, 1350 Walton Way, Augusta 30901; or St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta 30910. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, North Augusta.
