December 20, 1999Louis J. Kingsley, 81, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 111 Burns St., died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Stonehill. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa, where there will be a flag presentation by the American Legion Post 6 of Du-buque. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. Mr. Kingsley worked at Crescent Electric for 47 years in management, retiring in 1983.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1918, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, son of Thomas and Josephine (Murray) Kingsley. He married Geraldine M. Hasbrook on Oct. 5, 1940; she died Dec. 24, 1995. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 510. He served in the Air Corps in the Signal Corps, achieving the rank of first lieutenant. He was a loving father, husband and grandfather and he was especially proud and honored with his many friends.
Surviving are five daughters, Kristine Lang, of Waterloo, Iowa, Kathleen Clarey, of Northbrook, Ill., Mary DeRusso, of Florham Park, N.J., and Theresa Benz and Jodi Lindenberg, both of Dubuque; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Kingsley, of Owatonna, Minn.; and two sisters, Margaret Duffy, of Rochester, Minn., and Josephine Colter, of Waterloo. He also was preceded in death by a son, Louis Patrick Kingsley, on Sept. 28, 1996.
In lieu of flowers, a Louis J. Kingsley Memorial Fund has been established.
