Funeral service was held Aug. 1 at the United Church of Christ for William S. Jenkins, 83, who
died July 30, 1976, at the Belmond Nursing Home. Burial was in the Belmond cemetery. Fulton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. William Southall Jenkins was born June 27, 1893 at Moberly, Missouri, to Edgar and Delia Clark Jenkins. He was educated in the rural schools there. He was married on July 26, 1919 to Annetta Prenzler in Clarion. Mrs. Jenkins passed away in 1969.William Jenkins was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Army in France. He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Leona Wilson, two sisters and one brother. Survivors include son, Edgar Jenkins of Colorado Springs; daughter, Ethel Ross of Byron, Mn.; brother, Russell Jenkins of Moberly, Mo.; and two sisters: Mary Johnson of Santa Cruz, Ca. and Mrs. Emma Benson of Baltimore, Md.
Honorary casket bearers were Ivan Evans, Wallace Cramer,H. A. Summers, Warren Thompson, George Brumbaugh of Drakesville, and Len Collier.
Active casket bearers were grandsons Lanny Ross and Dennis Ross of Byron, Mn.; grandson in-law Walter Rose; Durwood LaRue,Henry Johnson, and James Peterson.
The Goodell American Legion was in charge of the military service.
