Lois K. Bohlen (1940-2007)

CEDAR FALLS — Lois Kaye Bohlen, 67, of Cedar Falls, died at home Wednesday, Sept. 26, of natural causes. She was born Aug. 4, 1940, in Kanawha, daughter of Melvin and Agnes Nelson Kinseth. She married Herman M. Bohlen on Oct. 18, 1967, in Galena, Ill. Mrs. Bohlen was a graduate of Eagle Grove High School and attended the American Institute of Business in Cedar Falls. She made custom draperies for J.C. Penney Co. She also worked at Medical Associates in Cedar Falls and was the bookkeeper for the family business, Bohlen Construction and Excavation. She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church where she attended Bible study.

Survivors include: her husband; her mother, Agnes Carlson of Des Moines; a sister, Doris (Dale) Winterberg of Des Moines; five daughters, Sheila Bohlen of Cedar Falls, Deborah Knudsen of Dike, Michelle Bohlen of Minneapolis, Teri (Lance) Folkerts of Boerne, Texas, and Kristine (Brook) Klunder, also of Cedar Falls; and eight grandchildren, Whitney and Tyler Folkerts, Alyse and Erica Knudsen, and Noah, Owen, Sara and Vada Klunder. Preceded in death by: her father; stepfather, John Carlson; and her aunt and uncle, Edith and Arthur Alexander.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church, Waterloo. A time of remembrance will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Memorials: may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Lois enjoyed sewing, oil painting, crocheting, scrapbooking and traveling with her husband.
