Elsie H. Innis, 102, of Bettendorf, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at the River View Manor, Pleasant Valley, Iowa. A private service for Elsie's friends and family will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2008, at the McGinnis Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Davenport, where Elsie was a very active member for many years.
Elsie was born August 7, 1905, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Francis C. and Emma Ann (Soults) Pardun. She was united in marriage to Thomas G. Innis on May 3, 1924, in Charles City, Iowa. He preceded her in death. In her younger years, Elsie worked as a school teacher in a country school in Clarion. She later spent her time as a homemaker.
She was very active in her church and belonged to many organizations within the church, including the Women's Fellowship and the Priscilla Circle. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, gardening, canning, flowers and music. She played the piano and the accordion.Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Virginia Lemons of Bettendorf; her grandsons, Tom (Jeri Jones) Lemons and Dave (Terry) Lemons of Bettendorf; her great-grandchildren, Joelle Gauf of Bettendorf, Jennifer Makulla of Davenport, Todd Lemons of Bettendorf, Amy Lemons of Bettendorf and Brad Lemons of Bettendorf; and her great-great-granddaughter, Briana Gauf of Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her brothers, Ross Pardun, Paul Pardun, Homer Pardun and Lloyd Pardun; her sisters, Mae Seifert and Pearl Smithand; and her great-granddaughter, Wendy Lemons.
Elsie's family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Edwards, Genesis Medical Center and the Riverview Manor for all their great care.
