GOLDFIELD — Mary Hanson was born April 7, 1941 in Hardy, Iowa to Ottie and Clara (Larson) Axdahl. She was raised in Hardy until 1955, when she moved to Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School with the class of 1959. On March 12, 1960, Mary was united in marriage with Arlen Hanson at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and is a current member of the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield. Mary loved to garden, work on the farm with Arlen, quilting, bowling, and was a member of a card club. She also played the piano and organ for Sunday services, funerals and weddings for over 20 years.

Mary passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at her home at the age of 66 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Jay Olson. Survivors include her husband, Arlen; children, Aaron Hanson and wife Kammy of Clarion; Laura Clark and husband Jason of Thor, grandchildren, Josephine and Kaylynn of Clarion, and a sister, Charlotte Olson of Humboldt.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield with Pastor Robert Dishman officiating. Visitation will be Friday 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in East Ullensvang Cemetery in Thor. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
