Final Rites Held For Mabel Probst

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational church for Mrs. Mabel Probst, 69, who died suddenly Saturday morning of a heart attack at the home of her daughter, Sarah Probst. Rev. William Schorman officiated over the rites and Johnston Funeral Home was in charge. Burial was in the cemetery at Galt. Pallbearers were Arnold Mennenga, Peter Bohning, Henry Larsen, Lloyd Lewis, Emory Thompson and Charles Norris.

Lucy Mabel Sisson was born at Shellsburg on Feb 5, 1877 [sic 1887], daughter of Charles and Katherine Sisson. At the age of 18 she moved to Wright county, living first south of Clarion and later assisting her brother George in operation of a hotel at Galt. She was married on Nov. 24, 1908 to John Probst of Galt. Following his death on Nov. 17, 1926, she moved to Belmond and had made her home here since that time. Mrs. Probst was a member of the Galt Congregational church, transferring her membership to the church of the same denomination here on moving to Belmond. She was a faithful member of the church's adult Bible class and Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are the three children born to her and Mr. Probst and a step-daughter: Sarah Probst of Belmond, Mrs. Robert (Grace) Lobdell of Ottumwa and Charles of Radmor, Pa.; and Mrs. Norris (Genevieve) Odland of Clarion. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and two brothers, George Sisson of Pine Bluff, Wyo., and Ray of Springfield, Mo.
