LE MARS, IOWA -- Kay A. Anderson, 54, of Le Mars passed away Friday, March 7, 2008, at her home in Le Mars. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Interment will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through carlsen funeralhome.

Kay Ann Marshall was born April 25, 1953, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Marilyn (Lueck) Marshall. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1971, Des Moines Area Community College and the University of Northern Iowa. Kay was married to Jack Britton and to this union a son, Layne was born. They later divorced. Kay was married to Allyn Anderson Nov. 9, 1996. She was currently employed at Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative in Le Mars as economic development director and was the current chair of the Iowa Finance Authority. Previously, Kay had taught school in Goldfield School District, was the Clarion, Iowa, Chamber of Commerce secretary, was executive director of the Hamilton County SEED, was the director of the Webster City Association of Business and Industry and was the director of the Spencer Area Association of Business and Industry. Kay attended Saint John's Lutheran Church and had been active on church committees. She enjoyed watching and following NASCAR races, especially her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. She also enjoyed country music and had the opportunity to have her picture taken with her favorite artist, Keith Urban.

Kay is survived by her husband, Allyn Anderson of LeMars; her son, Layne Marshall Britton and his special friend, Stacey Loemaker of Carbondale, Ill.; Layne's father, Jack Britton of Clarion, Iowa; three stepchildren, Sonja Gerstenberger and her husband, Scott of Grimes, Iowa, Bryce Anderson of Sanford, Fla., and Dane Anderson and his wife, Jenny of West Des Moines, Iowa; a stepgrandchild, Lucas Gerstenberger; her mother, Marilyn Marshall of Clarion; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Roger Kellison of Plattsmouth, Neb.; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Marsha Marshall of Fort Lupton, Colo.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Marshall; and her grandparents.

Kay will be remembered for the unconditional love and unity she brought to everyone who knew her. Pallbearers will be Bryce Anderson, Dane Anderson, Roger Kellison, Scott Gerstenberger, Kent Pauling and Matt Washburn.

Visitations will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Pallbearers will be Bryce Anderson, Dane Anderson, Roger Kellison, Scott Gerstenberger, Kent Pauling, and Matt Washburn.
