CLARION - Evelyn E. Allen, 86, of Clarion, passed away Saturday (March 8, 2008) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. Funeral services for Evelyn E. Allen will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Clarion Church of Christ, with Pastor Tim Platt officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation for Evelyn E. Allen will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, March 12, at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Evelyn Elizabeth (Jensen) Allen was born on Aug. 21, 1921, to William and Linda (Petersen) Jensen of Lehigh. Evelyn was joined in marriage to Ransom L. Allen on May 1, 1941. To this union seven children were born. They farmed in the Clarion and Humboldt areas before moving to Kanawha in 1953. The couple lived there until retirement in 1981 and moved to Clarion. After Ransom's illness and death in 2003, Evelyn moved to Garner to the Prairie View Apartments and had spent the last two years at the Concord Care Center in Garner. Evelyn enjoyed needlework and fishing in Canada. She was a member of Clarion Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children, Beverly (Duaine) Nelson of Britt, Donna (Mike) Abels of Kanawha, Maxine (Mike) Kalkwarf of Garner, Ronald (Sharon) Allen of Belmond, Roger (Judy) Allen of Britt, Keith Allen of Belmond, and Mark (Jill) Allen of Belmond; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Amos; and brothers, Donald and Orville Jensen of Fort Dodge. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ransom; brother: Melvin and Kenneth. Ewing Funeral Home.
