Cinda Rae Barz, age 38, and Staci Leigh Mitchell, age 9, (mother and daughter), died Thursday morning in Austin, Texas. Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa, is handling the arrangements. Services, Presbyterian Church in Dows, Iowa, at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. Fellowship with the family will follow after committal services at the Presbyterian Church in Dows. Reverend Gene Koth of Walnut Hills Meth Church in Des Moines, Iowa, will officiate. Burial, Fairview Cemetery in Dows, Iowa. Friends may call at the Presbyterian Church in Dows after 10:00 A.M., Wednesday. Memorials in Cinda Barz and Staci Mitchell's names will be accepted and may be sent c/o Reese Funeral Home, 302 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA 50208, or may be left at the Presbyterian Church in Dows, Iowa.

Cinda is survived by her parents, William and Donna Barz, Newton, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Kurt and Amber Barz, Urbandale, Iowa; niece and nephew, Tiffany and Brent, of Urbandale, Iowa.

Staci is survived by her father, James Joseph Mitchell of Waco, Texas; uncle, Michael Mitchell of Austin, Texas, uncle and aunt, Kurt and Amber Barz, Urbandale, Iowa, uncle and aunt, Xavier and Megan Mitchell of Dallas, Texas; cousins, Tiffany and Brent Barz, Urbandale, Iowa; maternal grandparents, William and Donna Barz, Newton, Iowa, paternal grandmother, Margaret Mitchell; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cinda's parents are William and Donna Peterson Barz. Staci's parents are Cinda Barz and James Mitchell. Cinda was born May 12, 1960, in Clarion, Iowa, and Staci was born December 27, 1988, in Austin, Texas.

Cinda graduated from Hampton High School, Hampton, Iowa, in 1978 and from Univesity of North Iowa with a BA in Arts. Staci was a fourth grade student at Barton Hills Elementary School in Austin, Texas, where she was a member of the Red Jacket Dance Team. Staci in addition to dancing played the piano and enjoyed helping other students in class. Cinda was a Juvenile Justice Resource Coordinator at the Gardner- Betts Juvenile Justice Center in Travis County, Texas. Cinda was an avid sports fan. Cinda moved to Austin, Texas, 15 years ago from Hampton after attending college. Reese Funeral Home in Newton, IA
