Clara Nelson, 89, of Fort Dodge, died January 23, 2008 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 at Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Sersland officiating. Interment will be held in Washington Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. today at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Clara May Nygaard, the daughter of Andrew and Mathilda (Heskje) Nygaard, was born on January 23, 1919 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1937. On December 29, 1942 she was united in marriage to Harry Nelson. The couple made their home in Duncombe and later moved to Fort Dodge in 1995. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, a past member of Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe, and past Ladies Aid member. Clara enjoyed sewing, embroidery work and being around children.

Survivors include her children Marvin Nelson and Karen Sundine both of Eagle Grove; five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Charlene Nelson, her brother Kenneth Nygaard and one grandchild Mykyl Nelson. Memorials may be directed towards Friendship Haven Adult Day Care Program.
