Emery Harold McFarland of Kent, Washington died June 8, 2002, in Renton. He was 81. Born Feb. 1, 1921, in Dows, Iowa, Mr. McFarland graduated from Kittitas High School. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and lived in the South County area since 1941. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at The Boeing Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Machinists & Aerospace Local 751 and of Kent First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Alice McFarland of Kent; son Loren J. McFarland of Auburn; daughters Janis Fonseca of Burbank, Calif., and Corrine Bassett of Wenatchee; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at noon Friday at Kent First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent. Memorials may be made to Kent First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Edline-Yahn Funeral Chapel in Kent.
