Robert W. Markin, 75, of Idaho Falls, died January 9, 2008, at his home. He was under the care of his wife with help from Idaho Home Health and Hospice. He was born August 22, 1932, at Clarion, Iowa, to Walter Markin and Ethel Longeway Markin. At a very early age, he lost both of his parents. His Uncle Elmer and Aunt Vera Jabens became his new Mother and Father and they raised him as their own child.

Bob graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After leaving the Army, he then attended the Elgin National Watch College at Elgin, Illinois. He graduated as a certified master watchmaker. His love for hunting and fishing brought him to the West. He accepted a job in Pocatello, Idaho, at Morgan Jewelry. He furthered his education at Idaho State University (ISU) and he also obtained his private pilot's license.

Bob married Carma Goldman on January 19, 1968, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He started his own watch-repair business in Idaho Falls after his marriage. The family built a cabin in Island Park (close to West Yellowstone) and his family has very cherished memories spent there in the summer and winter. The past few years, he has enjoyed going to Mesa, Arizona, for the winter months.

Survivors include his wife, Carma Markin of Idaho Falls; daughters, Brenda (Mike) Psalto of Layton, Utah, Wendy (Ken) Armijo of Mesa, Ariz., and Paula (Kent) Halford of Idaho Falls; siblings, Richard (Mary) Jabens of Cedar City, Utah, Eleanor Reha of Des Moines, Iowa, and Bob (Silva) Jabens of Arizona; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Lacey, Chase, Cody, Logan, Julia, Dillon, Kenny, and Carson; and mother-in-law, Dora Goldman of Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by Mother and Father Markin; Mother and Father Jabens; brother, Scott Markin; and father-in-law, Carl Goldman.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls with Chaplain Sonny Morris officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and for one hour Monday before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
