Thomas S. Mathre was born 30 May 1904 and died 28 June 1993. He was educated in the Stanhope School System. He attended Waldorf College, Forest City, and studied agriculture at University of Minnesota. He married Alfa Satre at Jewell in 1937. The couple lived for 3 years at Park Rivers, N.D., then moved to Kanawha in 1941 living there for 25 years before moving to Eagle Grove in 1963. They farmed for many years.

Survivors incllude his wife, Alfa, Eagle Grove; son, John Mathre, Coggen; daughter, Joan Schonrock, Spring Lake Park, Minn; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Sealine and Helen Fardal, both Story City. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and two sisters.
