Violet M. Hudgins, 93, homemaker who loved sewing & puzzles

Violet Mae Hudgins died Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Dallas County Hospital, at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Violet Mae Johnson was born May 15, 1914, to Selmer and Elise Moen Johnson in Spooner, Wis. As an infant, she and her parents moved to Ellsworth, Iowa, and later moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Carl Hudgins on December 27, 1929, in Eagle Grove. She was a homemaker her whole life. She moved to California in 1960 and later moved back to Perry, Iowa. She loved to do crossword puzzles, sew, garden, and cook. She also played cards with a group of ladies. For the last ten years, she has lived at the Perry Health Care, where she was given very good care.

Preceding her in death was her parents; husband, Carl; son, Dawyne; three grandchildren, Richard Hilpipre, Robert Hilpipre, and Robert Arthur; and two sisters. Survivors include daughters, Nancy (Lloyd) Hilpipre of Perry, Mary (Kenneth) Hilpipre of Minburn, Iowa, Donna Arthur of Cerritos, Calif., Carla (Donald) Sheriff of Sweet Springs, Mo., and Ruth Freeman of Bellflower, Calif.; one son, Jerry (Phyllis) Hudgins, of Greensboro, N. C.; one sister, Marjorie Oldson, of Eagle Grove; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
