April 10, 1924Rachel Ann Payne was born in Marshall County, Kansas, March 15, 1859, lived there until one year of age, the family moving then to Missouri where the family resided for a short time, moving to (?) near West Dayton, where she grew up to womanhood. She was united in marriage to R.L. Frakes, Sept. 5, 1875, at Webster City, Iowa, near which place she made her home until 25 years ago when she moved with her family to Decatur County, Iowa, near Davis City, where she passed peacefully away, April 5, 1924; aged 65 years, 21 days. She leaves besides her husband, 5 children; 4 daughters and 1 son: Hattie B. Caquelin, of Woolstock, Iowa; Minnie C. Swanger, Clarion, Iowa; Arthur P. Frakes, Grass Creek, Wyoming; Rosa M. Adams, Daugherty, Iowa; Jesse E. Craig, Ames, Iowa.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always ready and willing to do her part and was glad to help anybody in need or in sickness. It can truly be said of her that she died as she had lived with a fast and abiding faith in God, as early in life she gave herself to Christ, being baptized and united with the Christian Church. A beautiful life is ended here, but what is our loss is her gain.
The esteem in which she was held was shown in the care and kindness of the good neighbors during her sickness and burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Union Church at Davis City by Rev. Dobson and Rev. Campbell. The body was taken to Henderson's parlors to await the arrival of a son who was delayed by washouts.*****
CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to express our appreciation and thanks for the very many favors shown us by the kind friends and neighbors, for the beautiful floral offerings at home and church in the bereavement of our wife and mother.
