LE MARS, Iowa -- Harriet E. Woodard, 84, of Le Mars died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. Private family services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Harriet E. Morris was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Sioux City, the daughter of Albert and Iva (Patterson) Morris. She attended Central High School in Sioux City and graduated in 1935. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1939. She married Garold L. Woodard in 1944. He passed away in March 1962, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was a teacher at Buffalo Center, Charter Oak-Ute and Maurice-Orange City Junior High, until retiring in 1975. Following her retirement, she provided day care. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sioux City and the Iowa Education Association. She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Woodard and his wife, Susan of Des Moines, John Woodard and his wife, Mary of Sioux City, Steve Woodard and his wife, Nancy of Ankeny, Iowa, and Dave Woodard of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Cathy and Darrell Hartigan of Montrose, Calif., and Carol and Steve Hansen of Le Mars; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Morris.
