Debra K. Johnson, 47 of rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died Thursday in her home. Funeral services were Monday, December 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, Barnesville, Minnesota with Pastor Rich Iverson officiating. Dianne Hoffbeck served as soloist accompanied by Helen Ann Haugrud and Marlys Winkels. Pallbearers were Andrew Seaver, Joe Seaver, Nick Seaver, Travis Ness, Luke Ness and Terry Milingen. Visitation was Sunday from 5-9 with a prayer service at 7 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, and 2 hours before the funeral at the church. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery, Prairie View Township, Wilkin County, Minnesota.

Deb, daughter of Allen and Phyllis (Reisem) Ness, was born June 27, 1960 in Fort Dodge, Iowa where she attended school and grew to womanhood. She graduated from high school at Prairie Community School in 1978. She attended Lutheran Brethren Bible College in Fergus Falls graduating in 1980 with her Associates of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. She then attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and graduated with her ADN degree in Nursing in 1982.

Deb married Todd Johnson on September 4, 1982 in Hauge Lutheran Church in Goldfield, Iowa. The couple made their home in rural Rothsay. Deb was a nurse at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls and later the Pelican Rapids Good Samaritan Center. She also volunteered at the gift shop at Lake Region Hospital, a job she truly loved. She continued to live in rural Rothsay until the time of her death. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Brethren Church in Barnesville and the Woman’s Ministries at her church. She was also a member of Moms in Touch, her local homemakers and a local bible study. Deb enjoyed watching her children in their many sporting activities. She also enjoyed stamping, collecting bears and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband Todd, one daughter, Mandy of Valley City, North Dakota and one son Jeff at home. She is also survived by her mother Phyllis Ness of Gowrie, Iowa; one sister Melody (Brian) Sansgaard of Story City, Iowa and their children, Megan and Jon; two brothers, Joel (Lori) Ness of Gowrie and their children, Luke and Travis Ness, Paul, Amberly and Cole Jacobson, Tyler and Samantha Ramaekers, Brian (Cheryl) Ness of Newton, Iowa and their children Rebecca, Hannah, Sarah, Joshua, Caleb and Lydia; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norris and Darlene Johnson of rural Pelican Rapids; grandmother-in-law Esther Heggen of Fergus Falls; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Dean) Seaver of Le Sueur, Minnesota and their children, Sandra (Charles) Seitzer, Nick, Lyndsey and Erin, Kathie (Jeff) Seaver of Moorhead and their children, Andrew, Laura, Elizabeth and Joe. She is preceded in death by her father and sister-in-law Renae.
