James William Garth, Jr., 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, March 14, 1991. He was born September 12, 1899 to Dr. James W. and Esther Garth in Clarion, Iowa. A graduate of Beaumont (TX) High School, Mr. Garth attended Texas A&M University and graduated from Stanford University. Mr. Garth was a charter member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Cecile Tatum Garth; his brother Thomas Garth; his children, Gayle Garth Anglin and Jay Edgar Garth; his grandchildren, Garth Daniels, Jay Edgar Garth, Jr., Gayle Garth Love, Carrie Garth Martin, Kirk Wilson Daniels and Cecile Garth; and his five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am Saturday, March 16, 1991 in the Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive with Dr. Mark Lewis officiating. Private interment will be at the Tyrrell Mausoleum in Beaumont at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Tyrrell Historical Library Association, P.O. Box 3827, Beaumont, Texas, or to St. Luke's United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 3471 Westheimer, Houston, Texas 77027.
