Joseph C. Bray, 57, who came from his home in South Bend, Ind, only recently to visit with relatives at Earl, passed away at the Shell Lake hospital on Thursday, July 24, after suffering a paralytic stroke. Deceased was born April 18, 1889, near Clayton, Wright county, Iowa. He moved to Dows, Iowa, with his parents when a young child. His parents died a few years later, after which he made his home with his brother William. After securing his education, he taught school in Iowa and Wisconsin for many years.

Surviving are four brothers, William and Horace of Earl, Grant of Spooner and Clarence; also five sisters, Mrs. Oscar Johnson of Michigan City, Ind, Mrs. Cora Spears and Mrs. Marie Spencer both of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. Roy Kern of Los Angeles, Calif and Mrs. Bess Neely of San Francisco, Calif. He also leaves nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, July 28, 2p.m. from the Earl Church, Rev. J. P. Pennington officiating and burial was made in the Earl Cemetery.
