DAYTON — Lucille Lundberg, age 98, of Dayton, Iowa died Tuesday morning, October 16, 2007 at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Dayton with Rev. Keith Putney officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Carson Funeral Home, Dayton. Interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery.

Lucille Dexter, the daughter of George and Mabel Watson Dexter, was born in Mason City, Iowa on October 1, 1909. Orphaned as a young child, she was taken into the home of Herbert and Viretta Allen Lewis, who reared her as their daughter. She attended the Dayton Schools and graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1929. She then attended normal training school in Cedar Falls prior to teaching school for several years in Yell Township. On January 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to Roy Lundberg. The couple farmed in Boone County until 1976, when they retired and moved to Dayton. Lucille was pleased to have recently been presented a certificate for 85 years of continuous membership in the United Methodist Church of Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1977, and one sister and one brother. Survivors include one sister-in-law, Ruth Forsberg, Boone, formerly of Dayton; nephews, Glen Lewis, Olathe, KS; Eugene Lewis, Clarion, IA; nieces, Marjorie Schauer, Waseca, MN.; Naomi Fawcett and Bonnie Sheets, both of Goldfield, IA., and Janice Gordon, Dayton, IA.; several great nieces and nephews and many friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
