M. Eileen Miller passed on her birthdate, having lived 89 years, a life without boundaries or borders. In 1942, she moved to San Diego from her home state Iowa, where she had been a student at Iowa State College, to work in a parachute factory, afterwards she resumed her education at San Diego State University. In the late 40's, she married and traveled to Saudi Arabia where her husband had accepted employment with ARAMCO. In 1952, they traveled throughout the Middle East and Europe before returning to San Francisco where she earned her master's degree from the University of California-Berkeley. In the late 50's, she moved back to San Diego to work for the county juvenile court system for 24 years. Upon retirement she traveled extensively throughout the world which included an anthropological expedition in Tanzania and three other expeditions and a pursuit of 'native' folk art and textiles which had become her passion during her volunteer career spanning 24 years at the Mingei International Museum. Her volunteer work included many hours for other organizations including St. Vincent de Paul, Am. Vets and Goodwill and EMMAUS Today.

Preceded in death by both parents Michael J. and Gertrude L. Wehrheim, infant sister Virginia of Eagle Grove, IA; brothers Conrad of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jack of Portland, TX, George of Rockport, TX and sister Margaret Jones of Ames, IA. Survived by brother Robert Wehrheim and wife Carlyn of Cambridge, NE, nieces Becky Godfrey and fiancee John McCalley of Des Moines, IA, Virginia Hale and husband Phil of Corpus Christi, TX, nephews Michael Jones and wife Sheri of Lubbock, TX, Jack Wehrheim of Kauai, HI, Michael Wehrheim and wife Carol of San Antonio, TX and brother-in-law Bill Jones of Ames, IA, plus many great-nieces and nephews and a multitude of caring friends. The deceased requested no services. Friends are invited to a casual gathering to celebrate Eileen's life at Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park on Sunday, October 14, 2007, 5:30 p.m. For more information call 619-239-0003.
