March 10, 1905 - February 24, 2002
BRADENTON, Fla. - Gretchen M. Rausenberger, 96, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Iowa Falls, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, of heart failure at the Summerfield Retirement Center, where she had made her home since 1996. Services will be held Friday, March 1 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, with burial in Union Cemetery. Rev. Ron Ridgewater of Hubbard, will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services Friday at the church.

Gretchen was born March 10, 1905, at Goldfield, to John and Maude Stokes Henry. She attended Goldfield Community Schools and graduated from Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls in 1927, and received her master's degree from the University of Iowa in 1937. On July 29, 1929, she married Frantz Rausenberger at Goldfield. She taught music in Fairfield, Dumont and Alden High Schools from 1957 - 67. They lived in Iowa Falls while her husband was principal in the Iowa Falls School system. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls; and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 158 of Eldora.

She is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife, Patricia, of Clinton, and Robert and his wife, Henriette of Williamsburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1992; and one stepsister, Chrissy Henry.

Linn's Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is in charge of arrangements.
