EAGLE GROVE — Clifford Moon, the son of Jesse E. and Josephine (Carroll) Moon, was born August 22, 1914, on the family farm. Clifford received his education at the Dayton Township School near Eagle Grove. He farmed with his father before entering the United States Army in April of 1941, where he served in the Aleutian Islands. He received an honorable discharge on September 11, 1943. On February 9, 1944, Clifford was united in marriage with Marie Andrews at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Clare, Iowa. They made their home in Eagle Grove where Clifford was employed as a conductor for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad until his retirement. Clifford was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Eagle Grove Senior Citizens and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and received his 45 year pin in 1990. Clifford enjoyed walking, volunteering at the Senior Citizens Center and spending the Christmas season with family in San Diego.

Clifford passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2007, at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice (Moon) Tungesvik of Radcliffe. Survivors include his wife Marie Moon; daughter, Loretta of Iowa Falls; son, Roger and wife Cecilia and granddaughter, Joanna of San Diego, CA; sister, LaVerna (Moon) Hannum of Boone and sister-in-law, Regis Crawford of Fort Dodge.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Chris Podhajsky officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
Clifford deeded his body to the Des Moines University for research.
