Richard J. Gilmore, 64, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away suddenly at his mother-in-law's home in Humboldt. Services will be held at a later date. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is entrusted with the arrangements. He is survived by his loving wife, Lanie Gilmore of Fort Collins, CO; children, Connie (Darryl) Convoy of Eagle Grove, Jeff (Lori) Merris of Eagle Grove, Kris Merris of Colorado Springs, CO, Carrie (Steve) Anderson of Fort Lupton, CO, Dralinn (Fred) Koenig of Bismarck, ND, and Thane (Tari) Gilmore of Colorado Springs, CO; eight surviving grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Don Gilmore and Doug (Kathy) Gilmore both of Colorado Springs, CO; mother-in-law, Esther Thompson of Humboldt; brother-in-law, Ron (Meg) Thompson of Livermore; and sister-in-law, Sue (Alan) Wilhite of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Ryan Sassman. Richard J. Gilmore, the son of Walter and Jean (McCay) Gilmore was born June 25, 1943 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in the Kansas City, Kansas area. He served in Southeast Asia with the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Following his discharge, he returned home and received his master's degree. He taught Industrial Engineering at Colorado State University where he developed the program for Safety Engineering. He then owned and operated his own custom furniture company and from 1986 to 2000, managed the budget for Cheyenne Mountain for the United States Air force. Following a year of retirement, Richard went to work for Product Development Corporation supervising the distribution of telephone books west of the Mississippi.
