Mrs. Sam Kinnan, Eagle Grove, Buried

EAGLE GROVE, June 12 — Funeral services for Mrs. Kinnan, 72, were held at her residence Friday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. James Overby of the Baptist church. She had been a resident of Eagle Grove many years, and is survived by her husband and two married daughters.

Ella Kitley, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kitley, was born Sept. 11, 1858 and departed this life June 10, 1931, at the age of 72 years, eight months and 29 days. Miss Kitley was born on a farm in Hardin county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On Jan. 1, 1877, she was united in marriage to Samuel Kinnan, and to this union three children were born, one infant son preceding her in death, leaving to mourn her departure, her husband, two daughters, namely Mrs. Alta Martin, Des Moines and Mrs. Daisy Braumann, Eagle Grove; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Bachelder, Edmonton, Alberta, Can.; one cousin, Elmer Kitley of Eagle Grove. She, with her husband, came to Eagle Grove in October, 1885, being one among the early settlers of the town. She has made her home here since that time, but for seven years she, with her family, lived in Hawarden. At the age of 22 years, she professed her faith in Christ as her Saviour and faith in Christ as her Saviour and under the pastorate of Rev. Zellopha united with the Baptist church of this place. She has been a constant sufferer for 25 years. Some few years ago she practically lost her eyesight which added the more to her suffering, her last sickness dating from January and the last two weeks she has gradually grown worse until the end came very, quietly and peacefully, Wednesday at 1:15 p. m. Her body was taken to the family cemetery in Hardin county, near her former home, for interment Sunday.
