George A. Veldhouse, 73, Clarion, died at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning, July 12, 1986. He had been in failing health for several years and a patient at the hospital since June 27. Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church on Monday morning at 10:30. Rev. William Grange officiated and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Gary Brandt provided the music. Casket bearers were Harvey Hilpipre, Robert Keeling, Marlin Klehm, David Long, Donald Thompson and James Veldhouse. The Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Born at Holmes on November 14, 1912, he was the son of Nicholas H. and Laura Pehl Veldhouse and was raised and educated at Kanawha and Denver, Co. He and Lavon Thompson were married at Kanawha on November 7, 1937 and they farmed in the Clarion area until retiring to town. Survivors include his wife, three children; Karen Anderson of Norwalk, Gary A. of Coon Rapids, Minn. And Thomas J. of New Hope, Minn.; ten grandchildren, a great grandson, three brothers; Dr. Richard Veldhouse of Sarasota, Fla., Paul of Goodell and a twin brother; James of Corwith and a sister, Edna Garnant of New Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his parents. George was a member of First Lutheran Church.
