Irving Marrtin Pritchard, third son of J. S. and Florine [nee Bloom] Pritchard, was born at Fryburg, Wright County, Iowa, Feb. 1, 1873, and died at Armstrong, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1900, aged 27 years, 7 months and 21 days. Irving was educated in the public schools of Wright County attended the Iowa State College at Ames one term and was graduated from the law department of the State University of Iowa in June 1894, receiving the degree of Batchelor of Laws. The July following he went to Armstrong and opened a law office, where he continued successfully in business until failing health compelled him to close his office.

On November 15, 1899, he was married to Miss Emma Pollock, of Fort Dodge, who survives him. He was a faithful and consistent member of the Presbyterian church. He was a member of Emmet Lodge No. 533, A. F. & A. M. and was honored and beloved by his brethern in the order. In boyhood and manhood Irving Pritchard's life was above reproach, associateing with boys of his own age he was a tower of strength, not alone for his great physical force but becasue of his sterling manhood and staunch integrity yet he was tender and loving as a woman. So then this young life goes out grief comes not alone to the sorrow stricken widow, not alone to the father and mother, brothers and sister who survive him, but the community in which he was raised and in which he lived feel they have met an irretrievable loss. We bow submissively because He who notes the sparrow's fall and bears the young ravens when they cry has led this young husband, son and brother out into a fuller and brighter, and more glorious fruition of which we of earth catch only the faintest glimpse. By faith today we see him at the feet of Him he loved and served crowned with light and immortality. Amid our blinding tears we rejoice in this glorious triumph of faith.

"This is the victory even our faith."
"Alas, we sigh how bare the earth is growing
Of those whose very names the people love,
"But in their ears new harmonies are sounding:
Which wakes them to the light and life above."
