Delphi Native Dies In Eagle Grove, Ia.

DELPHI, Indiana — Mrs. Chris Nelson, native of here, died [JULY 22, 1964] at Eagle Grove, Ia., after an illness of three months. Survivors are the husband; a son, Leo E., of Chandler, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. John Larson of Eagle Grove and Anita at home. Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Morehouse of Route 7, Frankfort; three sisters, Mrs. Loreena Smith and Mrs. Marjorie Shiers of Lafayette and Mrs. Marie Smith of Earl Park; four brothers, Ferd Morehouse of Dayton, Wilfred of route 7, Frankfort, Ed of Darlington and Robert of Detroit.

Leo Alice Nelson was born August 21, 1907 at Delphi, Indiana, one of eleven children of Robert A. and Florinda B. Morehouse, now living at Frankfort, Indiana. She attended grade and high school at Brookston, Indiana. She was united in marriage to James Chris Nelson in 1927 at South Bend, Indiana, in the First Christian church. She was a member of the First Congregational church of Eagle Grove and had for many years been active in Sunday school work and other activities of her church. She was a past member of the board of deaconesses.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband James Chris and daughter Anita Kathryn at home, one son Leo Ernest of Chandler, Oklahoma, and a daughter Mrs. John O. Larson of Eagle Grove; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Morehouse, Rt. 3, Frankfort, Indiana; three sisters Mrs. Loreena Smith and Mrs. Marjorie Shiers of Lafayette, Indiana, Mrs. Marie Smith of Earl Park, Indiana; four brothers Ferd Morehouse of Dayton, Ind., Wilford Morehouse of Franklin, Ind., Edward Morehouse of Darlington, Ind., and Robert Morehouse of Detroit, Mich.

Funeral services were held at First Congregational church, Eagle Grove, Iowa, July 25 at 2 p.m. Rev. Marion L. Blake, Eagle Grove and Rev. Roy H. Cox, Fort Dodge, officiating. A tribute from Rev. Ivan Smith a former pastor of the Congregational church was also read by Rev. Blake. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
