Mrs. Anna Conklin, 76, Dies; Funeral Held at Eagle Grove

EAGLE GROVE — Mrs. Anna Lee Conklin, 76, died in Eagle Grove Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Prehm. Funeral services were held Monday at the Wilson funeral chapel, Eagle Grove, in charge of the Rev. Merrill King of the Open Bible church, and burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove. The pallbearers were Roy Comstock, Frank Stracke, Amos Fletcher, Will Fisher, George Shaunce and William Corsair.

Surviving are two sons, two daughters, one brother, Robert Davidson, Culver City, Cal., 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Anna Lee Conklin was born Anna Lee Davidson on January 15, 1864 at Fillmore, Mo. She was one of four children. In the year 1885, she was united in marriage to Charles Conklin, and in 1887 they moved to Clarion, Iowa, living there until 1929, when they moved to Eagle Grove.

To this union was born nine children, five of whom preceded the mother in death. The husband also preceded her, being accidentally killed in 1936, in his 76th year. Mrs. Conklin passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Prehm in Eagle Grove, August 16, 1940, aged 76 years, 8 months and one day. One brother, Robert Davidson, of Culver City, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. E. A. Bloxham of Mason City, remain to mourn her passing.

The four living children are as follows: Mrs. Jess Williams, Clarion; J. L. Conklin, Council Bluffs; Mrs. John Prehm, Eagle Grove; Ray Conklin, St. Joseph, Mo.; also; 18 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

During the last four years, since the death of her husband, she has made her home with her children and other relatives, spending much of the time in Clarion, where she had many friends, and enjoyed ministering in many sick rooms and to those in need. She was a member of the Christian church and attended in Clarion.
