EAGLE GROVE — Helen Coltvet, 92, died August 12, 2007, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home, Eagle Grove. Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Samuel Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at Foust Funeral Home.

Helen was born in Goldfield, Iowa on March 26, 1915, and was the daughter of Albert and Jenny Jergensen. She married August Coltvet in 1938 and they farmed for 8 years until August’s death in 1946. Helen and children moved to Eagle Grove where she lived for 50 years. She moved to the Meadows in Clarion in 1999, and then to the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove in 2004. Following her graduation from Eagle Grove High School in 1933, Helen attended Iowa State Teacher’s College for one year. She taught in country schools until her marriage. In 1956, she attended Eagle Grove Junior College and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Drake University in 1962. She was a member of the ADK Teachers’ Sorority and taught first grade in Thor, Iowa, then the Eagle Grove Community School District for 22 additional years. Helen was an active member of Samuel Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and Bible School.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, August, three sisters, Gertrude Cameron, Bette Anderson, and Virginia Myers; and a brother, Dean Jergensen. Survivors include her children, Marlene Jorgensen and husband Robert of Columbia, SC, Arnold Coltvet and his wife Sharon of Eagle Grove, and Charles Coltvet and his wife Lana of Iowa Falls; brother, Harley Jergensen; sister, Phyllis Erdal; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Samuel Lutheran Church.
