John George Homan, 89, of Irrigon, Oregon died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Mid-Columbia Medical Center at The Dalles. At his request no public service will be held. Disposition was by cremation.

The sixth of eight children, Mr. Homan was born Aug. 15, 1913, at Goldfield, Iowa, to Henry and Mary Katherine Reisig Homan. He grew up in Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska then moved West. He worked in construction, building dams throughout the Pacific Northwest. He was a 50-year member of Laborer's International Union of North America 348; a member of the Peace Lutheran Church at Rapid City, S.D., and the Irrigon Senior Center.

Survivors include his children, John Homan Jr., of Orange, Calif., Don Homan of Chuiak, Alaska, Lucille Hansan of Kennewick; S. Leroy Homan of Irrigon, and Sally Todd of Camano Island, Wash., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, three wives and a granddaughter. Cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory. Smith Callaway Chapel, The Dalles was in charge of arrangements.
