Melvin Douglas Jackson, 57, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Stanwood Union Church, by the Rev. William Harnish. Burial: Stanwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Scott and wife Michelle of Stanwood, Tom and wife Rhonda of Cedar Rapids and Ron of Stanwood; three grandchildren, Kori and Kyle, both of Stanwood, and Taylor of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Vivian, and a brother, Terry, both of Clarion; and two sisters, Marge Sheets of Goldfield and Sandy Nessler of Aurora, Colo. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin; a brother, Russ, and a granddaughter, Sydney Jackson.
