ROCKWELL - Descome L. Bishop, 82, of 220 N. Second St. in Rockwell, died Friday morning (Aug. 3, 2007) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. in Mason City, with the Pastor Jeff Dahlin officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery in Belmond, Iowa. The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. in Mason City from 4 until 7 p.m. The visitation will continue on Wednesday at the funeral home, one hour prior to Descome's service. Descome L. Bishop was born in Goodell on Feb. 21, 1925, the son of Lloyd and Tillie (Vierkant) Bishop. His twin brother died at birth. He grew up in and attended country school in Cerro Gordo County. Descome was united in marriage to Marlys Paschka at the Methodist Church wedding chapel in Mason City. Descome farmed along with his parents in the Meservey and Rockwell areas. He also worked for the Mason City Sugar Beet Campaigns. Descome joined the Laborers' Union local No. 177 of Mason City. He was employed with Henkel Construction, Davey and Moen and other construction companies around the area as a brick tender and laborer. Descome and Marlys have lived in Rockwell for 47 years. He enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, the Cerro Gordo County Fair in Mason City, the Spencer County Fair in Spencer and the Threshers Reunion in Charles City. Descome liked to take drives in the country and look at different farms in the area. He liked to attend farm auctions. Descome also enjoyed gardening, his pet cat "Tuffy" and to joke around and tease with people.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Descome's life are his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Marlys Bishop of Rockwell; five nieces, Diane Mullen of Denver, Colo., Cindy Bansten, Misty Lee Stiles of California, Kellie and her children and Dixie Stiles of California. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. Descome was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Tillie (Vierkant) Bishop; his twin brother; his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Dick and Margaret Stiles and Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Hazel Hopper; sister-in-law, Ed and Helen Harveson and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James and Nancy Stiles; sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne and Ila Willimson; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Descome Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. G.
