Milton DeWitt Korte, 87, passed from this life on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at his home in West Des Moines. He was born on August 5, 1919 at Eagle Grove, Iowa, to William and Gertrude Sampson Korte. In 1940, Milton married Crystal Christine Ryan in Des Moines. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 45 for over 45 years and worked at Backman Sheet Metal. Milton was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, and the Auburn-Union Park Masonic Lodge. Milton was a Past-Master of the former Union Park Lodge. He was an inventor, loved music and enjoyed square dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Korte of West Des Moines; one daughter, Nicole (Dwight) Keller of Waukee; two sons, Ron (Kris) Korte of Phoenix, AZ and Kurt (Debbie) Korte of West Des Moines; and six grandchildren, Cara Keller, Erin Keller, Ryan Korte, Alex Korte, Casey Korte and Zach Korte. Milton was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Korte.

A memorial gathering of family and friends celebrating Milton's life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 25, at Milton and Crystal's home. ILES Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road
