Larry D. "Pony" Kramer, 65, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Memorial services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Memorials may be directed to the Larry Kramer Track Scholarship Fund, c/o The University of Iowa Foundation, P.O. Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244.

Larry was born July 21, 1941, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Pete and Freda Gerdes Kramer. He was a graduate of Belmond High School, where he was a member of the track team. He attended the University of Iowa and was a member of the track and cross country teams. He was part of the 1963 Big Ten Championship team which won both the indoor and outdoor titles that year. He had owned Iowa City Trap and Skeet and in later years was an Independent insurance adjustor. He was a member of the Elks Club of Pensacola, Fla., where he had many friends.

He is survived by his significant other, Michelle Nutting of West Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Larry was born July 21, 1941 in Buffalo Center, the son of Pete and Freda Gerdes Kramer. He was a 1960 graduate of Belmond High School where he was a member of the track team. He was an Iowa state champion in the mile in high school and won a scholarship at the University of Iowa where he participated in track and cross country. He was part of the 1963 Big Ten Championship team which won both the indoor and outdoor titles. Larry lived with the Frank Pruisman family during his years in Belmond. He had owned Iowa City Trap and Skeet and in later years was an Independent Insurance Adjustor. He was a member of the Elks Club of Pensacola, FL, where he had many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry. Survivors include sister Gloria Glynn, and his significant other Michelle Nutting of West Branch.
