Margaret (Michels) Schlader passed away Jan. 7, 1951, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Kathrine Drilling at Cresco after a lingering illness of eight years. She was the daughter of John and Anna Michels, born at Cabery, Ill., May 13, 1868, and was married to Jacob Schlader at Webster City Xov. 15 1887. To this union were born seven children: John of Stewartville, Minn., Barb Thielen, deceased, Mrs. Irvin (Mary) Gabel of Floyd, Kathrine Drilling of Cresco. Rose Spurbeck of St. Paul. Minn., Mrs. Chris (Anna) Pick of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Charles (Emma.) Larsen of Yuba City, Calif. Her parents, one brother and three sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, five daughters; 34 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, at St. John's church, with burial in St. John's cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed and George Miller of Austin, Minn., Virgil Schlader of Charles City, Tony Fisher of Woolstock, Henry Michels and Edward Stecher of Clarion. Relatives from a distance attending were from St. Paul, Austin, Stewartville, Minn., Cresco, Charles City, Eagle Grove. Woolstock, Des Moines and Dougherty.

Former Resident Dies Wednesday at Daughter's Home

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. John's Catholic church at Clarion for Mrs. Margaret Schlader, 80, formerly of Clarion, who died Sunday at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Kate Drilling at Cresco. Burial was at St Joseph's cemetery in Woolstock township. Since her husband's death 16 years ago, she has made her home with her children. For the past seven years she has been bedfast at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kate Drilling. She is also survived by six daughters and one son. She is an aunt of Mrs. Edward Stecher and Henry Michels of Clarion.
