ALEXANDER — Eva Pals, 99, of Alexander, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church, Alexander, with the Rev. Gerald Norman officiating. Interment will be in the Alexander Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Eva Pals was born on March 8, 1899, near Alexander, Iowa, to Jelto P. and Jennie (Borchers) Pals. She grew up in the Alexander area and worked in Aldinger's Store as a sales clerk. She was united in marriage to Lambert Pals on Christmas Day in 1919. Together they farmed in rural Alexander until they retired and moved into town. Eva was an active and faithful member of the Alexander Reformed Church until ill health no longer permitted her to attend church. Lambert passed away in November 1987 and since that time, Eva had been a resident of the Belmond Health Care Center.

Eva is survived by one sister, Mrs. George (Marie) Barkema, of Belmond, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Jelto and Jennie; husband, Lambert; and three sisters, Mrs. Dick (Yettie) Dirkson, Mrs. Adoloph (Minnie) Eden and Mrs. Nysco (Fannie) Boelman.
