BELMOND - The funeral for Erma Arlene Cunningham, 81, of Belmond, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Belmond, with Pastor Celestyne DeVance officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home in Belmond and one hour before services on Friday at the Church. Memorials may be directed to the Erma Cunningham Memorial Fund.

Erma Arlene (Frohling) Cunningham, the daughter of Menno and Kate (Pals) Frohling, was born on Aug. 31, 1919, on a farm northeast of Belmond. Her early religious training and baptism were received at the Immanuel Reformed Church. She attended country school and graduated from Belmond High School. On June 22, 1937, she was united in marriage to William Lloyd Cunningham at the Little Brown Church. To this union three children were born. She was a homemaker and for 20 years worked with her husband at Lloyd's Body Shop. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She belonged to Culture Study Club and Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Erma entered the Belmond Health Care Center, where she died on Tuesday (Oct. 3, 2000).

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd, of Belmond; sons, Marlan Cunningham and his wife, Karen, of Ankeny, and Kirk Cunningham and his wife, Cathy, of Urbandale; one daughter, Glenda Field and her husband, Larry, of Fairbanks, Alaska; six grandchildren, Lauri Moore and her husband, David, David Cunningham and his wife, Lisa, Elizabeth Cunningham, Sarah Cunningham, Derek Field, and Nathan Field; four great-grandchildren, Aerielle Field, Matthew Moore, Christopher Moore, and Shannon Cunningham; sisters, Mrs. Harry (Esther) Mennenga, of Belmond, and Mrs. Royce (Mildred) Tomson, of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Jenison, in 1981. Tenold Funeral Home.
