HAYFIELD — Ben Baker, 85, died Tuesday (Jan. 6, 1998) at the Valley View Care Center, Armstrong. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home.
Ben Baker was born March 5, 1912, in Wright County. Survivors include his wife, Helen Baker, of Armstrong; two sons, Dean Baker of Algona and Bob Baker of Swea City; three sisters, Emma Applehons of Thompson, Helen Smidt of Britt and Fan Katiun of Belmond; one brother, Albert Baker of Forest City; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
