BELMOND — Carolyn K. Peterson, 47, died Tuesday (May 26, 1998) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Jack Paisley officiating. Interment will take place at St. Francis Cemetery, Belmond. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond. A parish rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. and a wake service at 8 p.m. The Monsignor Joseph Slepicka from St. Patrick parish, Clear Lake, will officiate at the wake service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday.

Carolyn K. Peterson was born Oct. 28, 1950, in Belmond, the daughter of James T. and June (Lester) McLaughlin. She attended school in Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School in 1968. Carolyn then attended Weaver Airline School, Kansas City, Kan. After completing airline school, she was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Mason City. She married Richard Stadtlander in 1975. On June 4, 1983, Carolyn married Robert Peterson at Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in Tulsa, Okla., until they retired from the telephone company. After they retired, the couple spent the winter months in Park City, Utah, and Lake Havasu City, Ariz. They spent the summer months in Ventura, Iowa.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Robert, of Ventura; mother, June McLaughlin, of Belmond; one brother, Phillip McLaughlin and his wife, Nancy, of Thornton; three sisters, Marty Taylor and her husband, Charles, of Clear Lake, LD McLaughlin, of Clear Lake, and Kathy Hunt and her husband, Brian, of Colo; one niece; four nephews; one great niece; one great nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, James McLaughlin in 1992.
