BELMOND -- Lenora May Lathrop, 89, died Friday (September 13, 1996) at Belmond Health Care Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Belmond Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Robertson of the United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tenold Funeral home in Belmond.

Lenora May (Sibert) Lathrop the daughter of Elmer and Effle (Dodge) Sibert was born September 17, 1906, at Williams. After graduation from high school Lenora became a school teacher in the rural schools in Wright County. She was united in marriage to Hartie M. Lathrop on Nov. 30, 1931 in Belmond. They lived in Belmond, where Hartie worked as an auto mechanic. Lenora continued to live in her home after Hartie died in March of 1982. You could always witness her love for flowers by the many gardens of flowers around her house. Lenora has been a resident of the Belmond Health Care Center for the past 2 1/2 years and died there on Friday, September 13, 1996.

She is survived by a son, Gaylen Lathrop and his wife, JoAnn of Bellingham, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Kay Lathrop of Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a sister, Blanche Jergensen of Clarion; and a brother, Alva Sibert and his wife, Cecila of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hartie; sons, Glenn and Roger; and brother, Harvey.
